Pansybright

The name pansy originates from the French word ‘pensée’, and as the name suggests, it is a symbol of both thoughts and memories. Known and treasured in England for centuries, pansies have markings that resemble open faces bowed in deep thought and because of this there is much folklore surrounding them. Pansies are important in the old-fashioned Language of Flowers, which goes back to Shakespearean times and are meant to bring love and cheer. This is reflected in the old fashioned names that they are traditionally known by, Heartsease, Love In Idleness and the wonderful Jump Up and Kiss Me. In Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream’ the juices from a pansy were squeezed into Titania’s eye causing her to fall in love with the ass-headed Bottom on waking up. In Pansybright we have designed a beautiful tossed pansy on both dark and light grounds, a small all-over and a larger pattern of bunches of blooms. A small tonal flower works as an interesting textured plain and all these match the large check and panel that also goes with Flutterbright and the rest of the Flutterbright range.
